The mud will stay gray. I think if we ever add brown mud, it has a better place somewhere else and those opporunities would be spoiled now if the mangrove mud was brown. Furthermore, gray mud has good contrast with the wood and foliage, which makes it clear where the floor is.

@FogzArt: In my opinion its a very nice texture, but the dark grey doesn’t really make me think of mud, and also doesn’t match the bricks very well. If nothing else, making it a bit more red would be nice because then it would avoid being brown while also not being such a dark cold grey

The idea is that during the process of baking the mud it gets rid of all moisture and certain minerals I suppose, which make it change color. We didn't want to add another gray-looking brick type, we wanted something more special.
