Map art, for those of you who have yet to dabble in it, is making top-down artworks within the borders of a "chunk" in the Minecraft world, so that when you make a map of it, it just looks like art. People have done some really creative things with map art in Minecraft, and it's some of those ideas that we're going to explore.

If your Minecraft server is all about pranking and PvP fighting, then you'll probably get a kick out of making a diamond ore map art, which you can place in mines to look like... well, diamond ore. Of course, the minute your unlucky pal gets out their pickaxe to add another diamond to their collection, they'll discover very quickly that the ore is nothing but a map, and that you are nothing but a rascal.

All you need for the "Infinity Room" is a fully white map, which you put all over the floors, walls, ceiling, and doors of whoever it is you want to trap in the void. They won't be able to figure out how to get out, and you'll have plenty of time to go to their house and steal all their stuff. Not that I endorse such behavior, I'm just saying you could.

If you're not willing to put that much time, effort, and energy into other people, I totally understand. Perhaps you'd like to use map art to decorate your own home? You could create carpets, wallpaper, detailed signs, and even secret map-covered entrances that hide your treasures – or even an entire room. Secret paintings are so 2017, after all.

But those are all pretty pedestrian ideas, right? You're looking for something a little spicier, right? How about a full deck of cards? Surprisingly, this isn't as much work as it sounds – you'll just need to make the blank white template, and add the numbers and suits for each map, locking them as you go. In no time at all, you'll have 52 cards of your very own, and you'll be able to set up a real-life, sort-of casino in Minecraft! That's way cooler than a castle, right?
