I WONDER WHAT HAPPENS IF I BREED FROGS IN A DIFFERENT CLIMATE 想知道把青蛙在不同气候下养大会怎么样呢
You can’t quite put your finger on why, but you need to find out more about the frog species. It might be because you’ve never encountered a mob that breeds in this way. All other mobs in the world that you know grow up from a smaller version of themselves. But the frog has three entirely different stages of life. From frogspawn, to tadpole, to its final form of a frog. Fascinating. But it might also be the sheer adorableness of the frog that opened up the floodgates. Whatever the reason, your quest for knowledge was undeniable.
Even though you’re eager to learn more about frogs – NOW – preparation is key. You fill the chest in your boat with supplies that will help you on a long trip. Plenty of food, high quality tools, a spyglass, lots of shoes, buckets of tadpoles, and some dirt blocks. You never know. The night before you set sail, you can barely sleep. The frog that you met that fateful day in the swamp hasn’t left your side. You look at the frog, hopping around in your house. In the dark, you make a promise to yourself, to the frog, to the entire Overworld – you will learn everything you can about this noble beast.
You finally drift off to sleep, but as soon as the sun starts to rise your eyes pop open. It’s time! As you steer your boat across the ocean, you’re filled with a sense of adventure, but also anticipation. You have a working theory that biomes play a big role in a frog’s life. You have only encountered frogs in one area – a swamp. And what does a swamp have in common with other areas? Water and plant life. You can find those same elements on a beach, or a jungle, or even a snowy tundra. You sail with no specific biome in mind, but you keep a lookout for areas that resemble a swamp.
Finally, you spot bamboo in the distance. Yes! A bamboo jungle would be the perfect spot to begin. Maybe you’ll even see some pandas as a bonus! As you dock your boat, you soak in your surroundings. The sun shines through bright green foliage, a river runs through the bamboo trees, and a few parrots eye you suspiciously. You nod in their direction, it’s always good to be a gracious guest. Oooh! A panda! Success!
You make your way to the river running through the jungle. Crouching carefully, you release one of the buckets of tadpoles into the water. Now, you wait. And build a shelter. Phantoms are still a thing, even on a scientific expedition. You build a very basic house, ok four walls and a roof, but it does the trick. The next day you wake safe, sound, and full of curious energy! Taking a seat by the riverbank, you watch the tadpoles swimming around. They’re so cute, but look like the tadpoles in the swamp. But scientific discoveries can’t be rushed. You take a break from staring at them to admire the beauty of bamboo.
You survey the river again – the tadpoles are gone. Is that supposed to happen? Where did that panda go? But before you can start to really worry, you hear a croak behind you. You whip around, and to your absolute delight, come face to face with a frog. A white frog! The frog from the swamp was a beautiful brown, but this one seems to be of a different variety! You do a little happy dance and then bound into your shelter. That night you fall asleep as soon as your head hits the pillow, you dream of tadpoles swimming through the skies.
The next morning, you bid adieu to the bamboo jungle. But as you head back to your boat, you realize that it had been looted during the night! Who could have done such a thing? You think back to all the times you have looted chests you came upon on your travels, and realize that anyone could have done such a thing, yourself included . You shrug but right before you sail off, you realize that the looter took all your tadpoles.
You let yourself wallow for a little while. You were so close to a scientific breakthrough, but now you have to go back home with only partial findings. As you lie on your stomach, defeated, the warm frog hops up to you. It stares into your eyes. What does it want? You ask it, “What do you want?”
But as you look into those big frog eyes, you feel your hope returning to you. A little looting won’t stand in your way! Not when science is on the line! You hop up and throw open the chest on your boat. There has to be something useful in there. You rifle through the apples and dirt blocks when – EUREKA! – you pull up a few, tiny slimes! The looter obviously didn’t know the value of these.
You run back to the warm frogs and feed them the slimes. You watch as little hearts appear over them. Yes, it’s working! The frogs hop over to the river and just as you anticipated, they lays fresh frogspawn for you. You spend some time doing a very scientific happy dance that can only be described as excessively hoppy. When you look back at the water, several tadpoles are swimming around. You scoop them into your bucket and then pack it safely in your boat. As you sail off, the frog hops around happily in the jungle as the parrots, no longer suspicious, fly through the sky.
The day begins to draw to a close, and you start to worry that you’re never going to find what you’re looking for. You’ve tested temperate and warm weather, only one factor remains – a cold climate. Right as you start to wonder if you can use the chest as shelter, you feel a cold breeze. As you follow it, you sail right into a frozen ocean. There is still some daylight left and you waste no time. From the side of the boat, you release the tadpoles into the water.
The rest of the night is spent fighting off hostile mobs from your boat. You might’ve been scared before, but now you have important scientific research to preserve! To protect the frogs. As the sun rises, you survey the tadpoles that you have kept safe from harm. You finally allow yourself to feel the fatigue in your bones and decide you need to put the keyboard down and get a drink. When you return – refreshed and hydrated – you can hear... splashing?
Your eyes well with tears as you gaze upon the frogs, the green frogs, swimming around the boat. This cements your hypothesis – different biomes dictate what variant of frog a tadpole grows up to be. You’ve never seen anything like this before. Nobody has ever even talked about this type of behavior before. You know that this is information that needs to be shared. The entire Overworld deserves to know the beauty of frog breeding!
When you finally return to camp, your friends beckon you to the campfire. But you know that you need to sort your thoughts out first, so you go straight to your cabin. Once settled, you start to write. And write. And then you write some more. Before you know it, you have filled several books with your new findings on the nature of frogs.
Now, you are finally ready to claim your title as Minecraft’s premiere herpetologist and you know it’s time to join your friends at the campfire so you can tell them about an epic adventure that started in a swamp and spanned the entire Overworld.
